Entrepreneurially Talented Teen Camp
Kutztown University SIFE students are bringing students and business leaders together in a unique opportunity for business owners to give help and guidance.
The business leaders of tomorrow are in high school and college today.
we want to help them build a better future.
SIFE of Kutztown University has over 20 members, and is working hard on the Entrepreneurially Talented Teen Camp, our big project, to be held on April 13 - 15, 2012 where we bring successful business leaders to share the secrets of their success with entrpreneurially talented high school students. Through planning, organizing, and hosting this camp, SIFE students can acquire invaluable experience and professional skills needed to achieve greater career success. In addition to developing networking and leadership skills, SIFE students act as mentors and provide needed guidance to younger students.
Real World Results
The Entrepreneurially Talented Teen Camp (ETTC) focuses on lessons on the following topics:
1. Understanding the market based economy,
2. Education and training for a competitive global economy,
3. Succeeding as an entrepreneur and business owner,
4. Developing personal financial management skills,
5. Making environmentally sustainable decisions,
6. Understanding business ethics.
7. Developing leadership and a healthy lifestyle.
ETTC utilizes the extensive talents of successful business leaders to present different topics of interest to high school students thinking about a career in business. The program integrates with the instructional program, usually through a business club or accounting or other business class. The weekend includes a variety of fun games such as Monopoly, MegaRaiders, Berks Billionaire, and other financial literacy games. The students also play the World Trade Game, a real-world simulation where they represent a country, are given resources and world trade rules, with the goal of ending the game with the most money in the world bank. Students also participate in team-building activities, and work together on a project to bring a product or service to market. Everyone can enjoy the effort that they put into the projects they worked on. We provide the professional videotaping of the commercial or presentation, allowing the teams to see their work on Youtube. Take a look:
The ETTC weekend is co-sponsored with Pacem In Vita Institute as part of their youth program Making a Better Future. The leaders who speak at the camp have overcome obstacles and beaten the odds to become successful and productive adults.
This program has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development as an Educational Improvement Organization (EIO), Organizations can get up to 90% tax credits in state taxes by contributing to the program and becoming sponsors.
