What To Expect You can expect to learn a lot. And you can expect fun. But I suppose you need to know a bit more than that, don't you?
First, after you send in your application, you can expect to hear from us around April 5th as to whether or not you are able to come. We can only invite as many students as we have sponsorships for, so hopefully we will get enough funding to invite all students who applied. If not, students will be chosen based upon the information in their application including their class level and extra curricular activities. You will be informed through email and a phone call if you are chosen.
If you are chosen, and there are enough students from your high school the school itself may transport you to the camp via a bus or van. If not, you will be asked to arrive by 10:00 am Monday morning (expecting to be dropped off. Students may not have cars there over the weekend). You will be assigned your room in the cabin or lodge. If you are assigned a cabin bunk, you will need warm sleeping bags, towels, and toiltries. If you are assigned a lodge bunk, you will be provided with sheets, blankets, and towels and will only need to bring toiletries.
Assignment of lodge or cabin is based upon seniority (those who attended the previous year get lodge preference) and level (Seniors get lodge preference over other levels).
After getting settled in and getting to know your teammates, you will then attend a networking luncheon with all the sponsors, speakers, and business leaders involved in putting the weekend together. You are expected to be courteous and practice your networking skills. (Start by introducing yourself to any adult that you see.)
You can see how the rest of the weekend is planned by looking at the Agenda.
Sometime during the weekend you will be asked to sit down and write a thank you letter to the person or company who sponsored you for the weekend.
Your parents should plan to pick you up around 2:00 on Friday.
If you have any other questions, you can contact Dr. Roger Hibbs or Dr. CJ Rhoads.
