On February 26, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm,
Joseph Puglisi,
Vice President and Chief Information Officer for EMCOR Group, Inc.,
gave a presentation entitled
Global Economy and Getting Out of the Engine Room.
EMCOR is a Fortune 500
company, the world’s leading electrical and mechanical construction and
facilities services provider. Joe is responsible for the strategy and direction
of over 80 operating companies throughout US , Canada and UK. He's had over 30
years of senior leadership experience.
Joe was also a
contributor to "Creating a Strategic Plan for Your Company," a book published in
2006 by Aspatore, Inc. He has received the Top 500 Innovator award
from Information Week for 7 consecutive
years, and Premier 100 CIO award from Computer World.
On
April 21, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Nancy Magee,
President & Founder of Financial Planning
Advisors, gave a speech to KU community on
Developing Personal Financial Management Skills. Nancy is a
Certified Financial Planner (CFP, Enrolled Agent (EA), and Certi-fied Divorce
Financial Analyst (CDFA). She is also a Co-host of the Berks Community TV
program "Financial Planning Profiles". Nancy has received the Beacon Award
winner and long-time member and officer of Berks Women’s Network. She is
extremely active in government and community projects.
She
is a member of the Kutztown University College of Business Advisory Board, and
has been a volunteer for many years with the Kutztown University Business &
Industry Campaign. Nancy has spoken to many groups on financial-planning
related topics including presentations of the “Money 101” adult money management
seminar, Tax Planning, and New Era Pension Planning.
On January 29, 2009,
Andy Klee,
President & CEO of Klee Associates, visited the SIFE club of Kutztown University
and gave a speech on Business Strategy and Succeeding as an Entrepreneur.
Over a hundred of Kutztown students, faculties, and professionals attended this

On November 20th, Michael Lawrence, Executive
Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of All Star Distributors, came bearing t-shirts and gift packs. Students learned about marketing and the beer distribution business. (No, there were no free samples.)
On October 23rd, Christopher Bernard, Strategy and
Operations Executive of IBM, came to speak to College of Business Students on career success in large companies.
On October 23rd, 2008, Stephen Johnson, the regional
director from SIFE International, came to hear about the Kutztown SIFE club plans.
On September 23rd, Dave Bosler, President & CEO of
Bosler Business Consulting LLC, came to speak to College of Business Students on successful business ownership.
On November 18th, Dave Bosler came back to give a workshop
to the SIFE members specifically on how to attract sponsorships for their events.
On August 28th,
the SIFE club of Kutztown University held a welcome event under a tent on the DMZ (large grassy area in the middle of campus) with a live band playing. The pouring rain did little to dampen our spirits as students came in to consume numerous hot dogs and listen to the music.
